Beyond technical excellence: the evolving expectations of arbitrators

On 4 June 2026, the inaugural LexisNexis Arbitration Lunch, conceived by Gustavo Moser, brought together arbitration practitioners from 15 nationalities at Lexis House in London. The event featured a fireside conversation moderated by Gustavo with Joe Tirado (Tirado ADR) on the qualities that will define the next generation of arbitrators.

The discussion explored how the role of arbitrators continue to evolve. While technical excellence remains fundamental, participants considered the growing importance of effective case management, sound judgment, technological literacy and the ability to command the confidence of parties.

Te conversation also addresses arbitrator appointments, tribunal dynamics, decision-making, and the impact of AI on international dispute resolution.
